October 6, 2016 Music, Kinect, and code, how have I never highlighted this project?DELAQDelqa is an installation that invites the audience to participate in a collaborative experience by going inside the music of Matthew Dear. It explores emerging modes of artistic expression and celebrates the latest advances in interactive technology.Artists, designers, and developers from the New Museum’s New Inc incubator program came together to bring Matthew Dear’s music to life by building a dynamic and immersive environment that blurs the line between creator and audience.Microsoft’s Kinect technology will allow visitors to manipulate their surroundings as they explore an ever-evolving world. Both the visuals and the music will respond intuitively to audience movements and interactions.See the entire playlist…Project Information URL: http://www.delqa.is/Delqa – Kinect soft surface tracking tutorialThis is a tutorial video for the open source tool we developed for the interactive sound installation, DELQA. It was installed at the New Museum’s NEW INC space from August 6-9th in 2015. The installation utilized 8 x Kinect 2 sensors that tracked visitors interacting with and deforming the environment. This tool is specifically built to help track soft-surface deformation and touches. We used it to track visitors pushing and pulling fabric meshes inside of our purpose built architecture.cwhitney/DelqaToolsOpen source tools from the installation 7/18/2015Visit http://delqa.is for documentation and a full list of collaborators. This is an open source tool we developed for the interactive sound installation, DELQA.
